I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude. I was recently thinking back to the time when I first started swing dance lessons. I truly felt that I had two left feet, I was shy and awkward and so uncomfortable on that dance floor.
A lot of that has changed now, I’ll take some of the credit for working hard but a huge part of it is you! You have incredible enthusiasm, such an easy going personality and really understand how people learn.
Thanks so much for all of your help, I look forward to more lessons, more dancing and more fun!”
I wanted to thank you for being such a happy, positive and very skillful teacher.
I did get a lot out of our private lesson at Dance Manhattan, was able to show my wife the basic things you taught me, and we had a great time on the dance floor at the wedding last night.
We even enjoyed the “cuddle” step you showed me.
My wife was very happy to be dancing and after a while stopped thinking about the steps and was just smiling, dancing naturally, even when the floor was very crowded, and having a great time.
Thank you Emily.”
“I just wanted to say thank you so very much for the lesson. I really felt nervous at first and I get goofy when I am, but you were fantastic! I really would love to get more lessons from you, it was great fun going out after. The club was fantastic, and the dancing was so much more fun with your help.”
“I simply wanted to thank you for the great lesson and the amazing energy you had.”
“Hi Emily – Thanks for the Lindy lesson on Monday. You’re a great teacher and very patient and kind which is much appreciated. Looking forward to another lesson.”
“Hi Emily – Thanks for the private lesson. I always learn so much from you – you are a great teacher.”
From Swing Out New Hampshire Students:
“Emily Vanston – I cannot imagine a better choice for a primary Bluebird instructor. Besides being highly informative, she was also inspirational, welcoming, accessible, and went out of her way to build community. More than any other instructor, she furthered the entire summer camp experience of SONH.”
“I especially loved Nathan and Emily’s joy and enthusiasm. A truly joyful and relaxing class spirit. Oh, and focused, for sure! They watched our first class of camp (with Skye and Frida) to get an idea of where we were at, which I think really shows their dedication to their job as teachers.”
“Nathan and Emily were our main instructors and really were fantastic, Nathan was always watching over us, thinking about how to make us better dancers and helping us with our routine. While Emily was working with the followers she did a fabulous job of keeping everyone on track, solving problems, explaining well and being very upbeat. Plus I want to look like her when I’m dancing! These guys were awesome.”
“I thought Nathan/Emily were real stand-out teachers. They had a way of teaching that made sure everyone could understand and have a good time.”
Lou and I just wanted to send you a quick note and let you know how amazing our first dance was! We nailed it – our timing was perfect!! There was a ton of cheering and laughter from the crowd as we danced! When we did the “Let it slide,” everyone went crazy!!! Oh, and the dip was perfect too. 🙂
When we finished, most of the women were crying…they loved it so much. As the night went on, everyone kept asking us how many dance lessons we took, because it was so good. Then, Lou and I noticed that people were stealing our dance moves!!!
So, many thanks again for all of your help!! Obviously, we could not have done it without you!!!
Hope all is well.
Katie (and Lou)
I wanted to send you a few pictures from our wedding. There are a few good ones from the dance especially the dip! Everyone loved the dance . . . it was a huge hit and one of our favorite parts of the wedding. Thank you for being a part of it.
We’ve actually been practicing the dance even after the wedding because it always puts us in a good mood 🙂 We don’t want to forget our moves.
Gab and Josh
“Everyone LOVED the dance! Thank you so much for choreographing it and teaching us!”

From Workshop Students:
“You rock and inspire. Thank you.”
“Hi Emily, I just want to say a big THANK YOU. You may not remember but you gave me the most amazing piece of information (the missing link) …. One amazing and thoughtful observation on your part has liberated my dancing and I will always be grateful that you took the time and more importantly, came over and told me. Just a fleeting moment in your life but a momentous step in mine. Thank you.”
